On track? "One Lap vs. Many Laps”

Whether you are new to pedal karts or have had karts at your farm or campground, setting up the track is key to success. Success in this case is defined as: Guests having a great time riding

Guests enjoying an interesting experience they want to repeat

YOU having low maintenance cost on your karts

Your track, if designed correctly, can:

- Manage your line queues and experience delivery

- Reduce staffing costs

- Lower maintenance costs, by easing kart use

- Plus you can even create a LIVE Arcade game to engage guests (With our NEW Pedal Kart Track Game)

Which track to choose?

"Many Lap” Concept: The main benefit of the “Many Lap” Concept track is that it requires less space. A simple 'oval' or ‘kidney bean’ shape works to allow riders to circle the track and return to the start. It can be managed with a single staff person.

The downside is counting laps and staff needing to ‘stop the fun’ by forcing riders to take turns after 1-4 laps. The trick is that the staff must stop riders on their 3 lap, while other riders on the same course are on their 1 lap.

This can lead to guests feeling ‘unfairly treated’ because they think they or their kids, were stopped before it was their turn to give up their karts.

“One-Lap" Concept: When space for a slightly larger track is available, we recommend the One-Lap Concept. Basically, this means that the track is long enough to tire out an average guest, and give that guest a good value ride, in a single lap.

One lap, one turn. The single lap equals a single turn. Guests may ride again, but need to rejoin the line for karts. Staff management eases as each kart starts and stops from one location and takes just one lap. If a kart is coming back to the start, that’s the end for that rider.

With a single lap, guests clearly know the start and end of the ride. If there is no line, guests may continue to ride, of course.

Which do you use or think sounds better for your operation?

In the next email, we discuss pricing for a pedal kart attraction:

Should you charge more per ride or just add pedal karts into general admission?

If you add pedal karts into admission, should you raise general admission?
